Sense of Control Test
Find out how much you feel that what happens in your life depends on your own decisions and effort rather than on chance, circumstances or other people.
About the test
This test helps you look at your locus of control: how much you feel that events in your life depend on you, your decisions and effort, rather than mainly on chance, circumstances or other people.
It touches on different areas of life, from work and health to family and relationships, and shows whether you tend to take control into your own hands or to rely on external forces. In psychology this is also called internality and externality.
Methodology
The test is based on the Bazhin Locus of Control Questionnaire, which E. F. Bazhin and colleagues developed on the basis of J. Rotter’s locus of control scale.
The method assesses general locus of control: it counts how many of your answers point to internality and places the result on a single scale between the internal and external poles. The app keeps the content, scoring and interpretation of the test unchanged.
You read each statement and answer yes or no, based on how you usually think and behave.
Results
After completing the test you receive an overall assessment of your level of internality, from low to high, with a short explanation of the term and a description of how this level tends to show up: how easily you rely on yourself, take initiative and handle setbacks.
The result helps you notice where you may underestimate your own influence or take on too much, and can be supplemented with personalized AI analysis in the Who Am I? app.
