Conflict Behavior Test
Find out which of the five ways of handling conflict you rely on most: competing, collaborating, compromising, avoiding or accommodating.
About the test
This test helps you identify which behaviours you most often use in conflict situations: insisting on your own position, seeking a mutually acceptable solution, compromising, avoiding the conflict or yielding to the other person.
It is not about how often you argue but about how you handle disagreement, so it is useful whether conflicts are frequent in your life or rare.
Methodology
The test is based on Kenneth Thomas’s conflict mode method, which identifies typical styles of behaviour in conflict situations.
The method distinguishes five strategies: competing, collaborating, compromising, avoiding and accommodating. Each pair of statements pits two strategies against each other, and the one you choose gets the point, so the scales are compared with one another rather than judged separately. The app adapts the wording while keeping the scoring logic and the five-scale structure.
For each question you read two statements and choose the one that better describes how you usually behave in a conflict.
Results
The result shows whether you rely on one main strategy when handling conflict, combine several, or have no clear preference for any one. Alongside it you see all five strategies ranked from the most to the least used, each with a description of when it helps and when it gets in the way.
The result helps you see which approaches you may be overusing and which could serve you better in particular situations, and can be supplemented with personalized AI analysis in the Who Am I? app.
